Passport & Visa

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) is a sovereign state with managed borders. If you are not a citizen of the UK, you may need a visa or Travel Authorisation to enter. Regardless, anybody needs to be able to show a valid passport to enter from outside the UK.

Most visitors travelling to the UK need an ETA or a visa. What you need depends on your nationality you will likely need an ETA rather than a visa if you’re from Europe, the USA, Australia, Canada or certain other countries. To check if you need a visa or ETA  please visit this website

If you are a conference paper presenter, grant recipient, exhibitor or conference delegate, the organisers will be pleased to send you a letter of invitation to assist you with your visa application.

For conference delegates we will only consider requests for invitation letters if you have been properly registered through our online portal and your registration payment has been received. This explicitly means we cannot assist you if you are only planning to visit the (free) exhibition.

You can request an invitation letter by submitting an application form (in word.docx format) to the EuMW visa chairs email address ([email protected]). Requests for invitation letters will be handled as quickly as possible, however it is your own responsibility to ensure enough margin for the VISA application process. Should you have any questions beforehand, please send an email to [email protected]

There is always a risk that a visa gets denied. This is outside of the responsibility of the European Microwave Week organisation and is not a valid reason for reimbursement of registration fees.
